Rug Weaving Workshop Information & FAQ

How To Book

Select the workshop you want to sign up to and click “Add to Cart”.

Click the shopping cart icon in the top right hand corner of the screen to view your cart and pay.

We offer two online booking options

  • Pay Deposit - you can opt to pay a £120 non-refundable deposit to reserve your space on the workshop. We will invoice you 8 weeks before the start of the class to pay the remaining balance. This must be paid 6 weeks before the start of the workshop, or your booking will be cancelled.

  • Pay In Full - you can opt to pay the full ticket cost of £360. This includes a non-refundable deposit of £120.

If the workshop you want is sold out you can join the waiting list and be notified if a space opens up.

Transferring To Another Workshop Date

If you would like to transfer to another workshop, you must contact us at least 8 weeks before the start of the workshop on which you are booked.

You may transfer your booking to an alternative workshop, providing there is a space available.

A transfer fee of £35 will be charged.

Cancelling Your Booking

If you have to cancel your workshop booking, please notify us by emailing info@balfourand.co

For cancellations made more than six weeks before the start of the workshop, any fees paid over and above the £120 deposit will be refunded.

No refunds can be made to those who cancel within six weeks of the workshop start date.

All deposits are non-refundable. If you pay your booking in full, this still includes a non-refundable deposit of £120.

Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve never woven before. Are your rug weaving workshops suitable for beginners?

Absolutely! Many of the students in our workshops have never woven before. Each class includes a lot of hands-on support and one-to-one guidance, and we work slowly through each step. We will also be in touch with you in advance of the workshop to help you prepare.

I’d like to learn how to weave tufted rugs. Does this class cover this?

This workshop focuses on weaving flatwoven rugs. We do not cover tufting in this class due to the time-consuming nature of this rug weaving method. If you would like to learn to weave tufted rugs, we suggest signing up for our Rug Weaving On A Mirrix Loom online course.

Can I weave with something other than cotton or wool?

We understand that due to allergies or personal preferences, some people prefer not to work with cotton or wool. Unfortunately due to the costs involved in running this workshop, we are not able to accommodate different yarn choices. We recommend checking out our online courses instead.

Can I get a loom to take home?

If you would like to continue your weaving journey at home, we recommend ordering one of our rug looms. These are similar to the looms we use in the workshop, and come with detailed instructions for how to set them up. Find out more here.

Where do the workshops take place?

All workshops (unless stated otherwise) take place at my weaving studio in Hackney Wick. The address and travel details will be provided in an email sent out before the workshop.

The workshop I wanted is sold out. Can I sign up to a waiting list?

In the event that the workshop sells out, there will be an option on the product page to join the waiting list. We’ll then notify you if a space opens up.
