Class Options

One-to-one classes in our studio can cover the following topics

Tapestry Weaving - learn how to weave your own detailed and intricate tapestries on a sett of 8epi. You can bring your own loom or a tapestry frame can be provided at an extra charge.

Rug Weaving - working on a simple upright loom, you can learn how to set up the loom and the basics of rug weaving. Alternatively, we can set up the loom for you before the class begins so you can try more advanced techniques.

Weaving On A Floor Loom - learn how to set up and start weaving on a floor loom. Please note: bookings for this class are limited as our floor looms are frequently in use on other projects. We recommend signing up for our Rug Weaving On A Floor Loom course as an alternative.

Our Weaving Teacher

Our one-to-one classes are hosted and taught by our founder, artist and tapestry weaver Christabel Balfour. Christabel has been weaving professionally for nine years, working with private clients and interior designers to produce bespoke handmade tapestries and rugs.

Her work has been featured in the Guardian, the New York Times, and profiled by The Modern House. She has taught weaving classes at the Barbican and the V&A.

In the class she’ll be sharing the weaving techniques she uses every day in her own work, and give you an insight into the practice of a professional weaver.

You can find out more about her work on her website here.
